Creative Health Tip 19 October 2009

I have a wonderful teaching for you today about Nature. The direction this came from is somewhat unusual, but that’s the thing about Wisdom; you just never know what direction it’s going to come from, so always keep your eyes and ears open!

I am doing some editing for a friend of mine who I’ll call Richard since that’s his name. Richard is a retired Doctor of Chiropractic who now devotes his time to his Golden Bridge Seminars where he shares the wisdom Abraham as channeled by Esther Hicks who writes books and travels with her husband Jerry.

One of the main teachings of Abraham is to “go with the flow,” or “go downstream.” To get what you want out of life, to be where you want to be and in the circumstances and relationships and prosperity and places that are right for you, you do not need to struggle. Struggling is considered to be going upstream. You paddle and paddle and struggle and struggle, and where does it really get you? Nowhere.

Now, the reason I mention Richard today is that I am editing a manuscript for him. There is a miracle described in there, and you are going to have to read the book to learn what that is, but meanwhile….

While working on his manuscript, I came across a simple sentence that leapt off the page and just sort of hit me right between the eyes. I don’t know if this philosophy came to Richard before or after his interest in the Abraham-Hicks teachings manifested, but if it were before, I certainly can understand his attraction to the Abraham teachings and the Law of Attraction.

Richard’s philosophy is simple, and – as these things often are – simply profound: “Nature needs no help, just no interference.”

Just think about that for a moment and how it could relate to your health. Your wellness is in the hands of your immune system. Think about the ways you may be interfering with Nature and compromising your immune system by being exposed to household chemicals, eating an unhealthy diet, and living a stressed-out lifestyle. Certainly, none of those are in alignment or harmony with Nature or her “go with the flow, go downstream” advice.

As a Doctor of Chiropractic, Richard’s main interest was wellness, and his philosophy is a perfect reflection of his belief, and certainly aligns with the Abraham teachings as well!

If you are floating downstream, you are not “helping” Nature by paddling, and likewise, if you are floating you are not interfering with or hampering your harmony with Nature. Floating means letting Nature take its course

In the area of wellness, what this means is that when your body’s immune system, which is Nature’s way of keeping you healthy, is operating at peak efficiency, it can handle any disease to which you are exposed, either externally such as the flu or strep throat, or internally such as cancer or even arthritis. It is only when Nature – meaning your immune system – is compromised that you fall prey to disease.

If you want real wellness, there are two things you should do. First: Expect miracles, for that is how you create them. Second: Don’t get in Mother Nature’s way when she’s working to restore your health! Support your immune system by getting enough sleep, eating healthy, organic foods, and minimizing the stress that suppresses proper immune system function.

Seriously, I am going to post this statement where I can see it and be reminded of its wisdom every day, and I hope you do, too!

Remember: “Nature needs no help, just no interference.”

Thank you, Richard, for that!

Have a great week!

Creative Health Tip 7 August 2009

Today's Creative Health Tip is about Awareness

We all tend to gather in groups of like-minded people, so it wouldn't surprise me if many of you are fans of positive thinking, creative consciousness and other "your thoughts and emotions create your reality" techniques.

Maybe you've read books by Louise Hay, Gregg Braden, or Ester and Jerry Hicks. If so, you know they all offer similar advice: be aware of your thoughts for your thoughts are vibrations and whatever you think about with strong emotions is what you will create in your life!

Whether your creation is favorable or unfavorable depends largely on those strong emotions. Emotions like anger, guilt, and fear will create unfavorable life experiences and physical disease, while emotions like hopefulness, happiness, and appreciation will create wonderful experiences and physical vitality.

The important point I want to make this week is that you must be very alert and aware of your thoughts! Several times in the last few days, I've spoken with people who are very knowledgeable in these co-creative processes, say they understand the need for positive thoughts and emotions, and yet all they did was grumble about all the negative events in their lives.

While it sure is ok to vent once in a while, if you spend too much time venting the negative, it gains momentum and comes back to haunt you when you least expect it, and least desire it.

Throughout the day, check in with yourself, and examine your emotions: are you stressed, happy, or bored? Be aware of the path and pattern of your thoughts: do you like what you are doing, or do you wish you were somewhere else, or are you getting ready to take what you're doing and toss it on the trash heap?

When you have a string of negative thoughts or emotions, acknowledge them but don't dwell on them. Instead, try to turn them around into something positive. Doing this will raise your vibration and let you manifest things you like and want instead of attracting all those things you are trying to avoid!

Have a great weekend!

Creative Health Tip 26 June 2009

*** This video may be of somewhat poorer quality than previous videos. YouTube is having a problem with uploading my usual file format, so I've had to reformat this one to get it to upload. Hopefully, the format problem will be fixed soon and I will return to my previous format.

Meanwhile, here is the full text of the message:

Your mind creates your reality.

This is not a new concept. The Law of Attraction material has been around for a long time now, and most people understand that if/when they can "live in their dream" and really feel they are in their desire – be it a new house, car, or whatever – they will eventually manifest that item in the physical world.

I have been attending a series of workshops the last couple of months, and I have learned to take that a step further and say Your Beliefs Create Your Reality.

What is the difference, besides substituting the word Belief for Mind? Your mind is the tool that brings your beliefs into conscious awareness. Your Beliefs are what create the vibrations that make things happen.

Stress is a prime example of this. Any given situation will be stressful for some people, but not stressful for others. The difference is in the belief of the person having the experience. To go back to a popular children's book, The Little Engine That Could, the engine got stressed-out that he couldn't make it over the hill until he changed his belief to one that said "I Can." The way that worked is pretty obvious: his thought ("I think I can.") effected a change in his belief that he couldn't do it to a belief that enabled him to get over that hill!

However, there is another level, and this is the one I've been working with lately. You have all those conscious beliefs that create your response to experience: like the Little Engine's stress, he looked at that tall hill and his conscious belief said "I'm too small to make it over that hill" but he changed it through the "I think I can" process.

The deeper level is the one where core beliefs live, and these may conflict with your conscious beliefs. Core beliefs are the ones you have absorbed since birth; they are memories of and reactions to past experiences. Depending on whether these beliefs are productive or destructive, you can find yourself sailing along through life with everything going your way, or struggling because some core belief that no longer serves you is in conflict with your conscious belief and is holding you back, or even making you ill.

The series of workshops I've been attending to learn about this are with Jeb Barton here in Bend.

Jeb teaches that sustained conflict in your core beliefs is the cause of disease. Using our Little Engine again, here's how a core belief can cause disease (please keep in mind that this is a very simple example. The process itself is longer and more complicated):

Let's say that Little Engine has been told all his life that he's too little to go over any big hills – that is now his core belief. All his life, he's avoided big hills because he feels he's not strong enough to go over them. Now, Little Engine approaches the hill – there is no way to avoid it this time – and gets all sorts of encouragement from his friends, and even says, "I think I can, I think I can…." But now there is a conflict with the core belief that says "you can't" and the conscious belief that says "I can," and what to you think happens? He probably gets half way up the hill and an axel breaks, he bursts a gasket; he "gets sick" in some way due to the conflict in his you-can't/I-can beliefs.

If you are experiencing a chronic illness, it would definitely be to your benefit to examine some of your beliefs and see if you can figure out when and where you acquired a belief that no longer serves you or is holding you back, and use your Creative Mind ability to turn it around into a positive statement that will enable you to regain your health. If you can Believe yourself healthy, you will See health restored.

(There is a qigong meditation practice that works on that principle, and if you are interested let's arrange for a lesson in which I can guide you in that process. If you would like to do that, or have any comments or questions on today's Tip, write to me at bewellwithmichelle@gmail.com )

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success - book review

Almost 15 years before "The Secret" and the Law of Attraction, there was Deepak Chopra writing about acquiring the things we desire, not only cars and homes, but peace of mind and contentment in his book The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams.

I know a lot of people say things like this, but it really is true when I tell you that this little book changed my life. It completely changed how I perceive the world and its workings. Not only do these seven laws teach about manifestation, but they teach how to work harmoniously with universal energies thereby eliminating a lot of stress and anxiety from daily life.

I bought it on a whim when Christmas shopping with my son. It was on a table of discounted books near the checkout counter of the store; placement for purely impulse purchases, and it got me that December evening in 1994. Even after all these years, I count it as one of the wisest impulse purchases I've ever made.

It's just 128 pages – easy to read; simple yet profound as many great teachings are.

The first sentence of the introduction states: "Although this book is titled The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, it could also be called the Seven Spiritual Laws of Life, because these are the same principles that nature uses to create everything in material existence – everything we can see, hear, smell, taste, or touch."

In this sense – and throughout this book – "spiritual" means "life force," not necessarily a religious "God-force." This book isn't about religion, it's about natural laws, life force and energy, and the physical manifestation of thought and desire.

Right off, the title intrigued me because the number seven certainly carries with it a variety of Mystical and Mysterious meanings in many cultures and traditions. (For more information on that, read the article "Spiritual Symbolism in the Number 7" on my "Spirits In Harmony" blog.)

The first law is the Law of Pure Potentiality which states that every thought is a potential manifestation, and that you can manifest anything that you can think of.

Second is the Law of Giving. Whatever you give is returned to you, so make sure you give that which you seek.

Third is the Law of "Karma" or Cause and Effect. Every action is not only the result of the application of energy, it generates an energetic force as well.

Fourth is one of my favorites and dovetails perfectly with Daoist philosophy – The Law of Least Effort. If you are in harmony with the universe, whatever you desire manifests easily and effortlessly.

Fifth is the Law of Intention and Desire. Clarity of intention and desire is crucial to the manifestation process.

Sixth is the Law of Detachment. This is a little bit like "let go and let God." Once you are clear on what you want to manifest, allow it to happen in its own way. Don't try to control the process, just envision the outcome.

Seventh is the Law of "Dharma" or Purpose in Life. The introduction to this chapter explains: "Everyone has a purpose in life…a unique gift or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals."

Each chapter goes into detail on how the subject Law works in the universe, and the manifestation process. Each also ends with a section called "Applying the Law of ______" in which practical steps are enumerated showing you how to incorporate the teaching into your daily life.

I still keep this little book at my bedside to read at night and meditate on the principles within. Not only does it contain food for thought, but nourishment for the soul as well.

The Secret and The Law of Attraction

You are the architect of your own life: it is yours to make or to mar.
By the power of thoughts you are building; are you building aright?

Is that the first line from the popular movie "The Secret?" A pearl of wisdom from one of the many sages and teachers Oprah interviewed on tv? Nope, it's the first line from the book The Power of Thought by Henry T. Hamblin whose book on the manifesting power of the mind was published in 1921!

Henry Hamblin wasn't alone in writing about the Law of Attraction and mind power by any means. The power of thought and the power of the mind was a pretty hot topic around the turn of the century…the LAST century, 1900!

One of the most popular books on the manifesting power of thought was As A Man Thinketh by James Allen, published in 1904. In the Forward, he states:
"THIS little volume (the result of meditation and experience) is not intended as an exhaustive treatise on the much-written-upon subject of the power of thought. It is suggestive rather than explanatory, its object being to stimulate men and women to the discovery and perception of the truth that--
"They themselves are makers of themselves."
by virtue of the thoughts, which they choose and encourage; that mind is the master-weaver, both of the inner garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance, and that, as they may have hitherto woven in ignorance and pain they may now weave in enlightenment and happiness."

(Now, there's a great, holistic way to eliminate stress…use the power of your thoughts to weave it away!)

Mind power was such a popular topic around 1900 that Allen even calls it "the much-written-upon subject." What happened? Why was it largely forgotten for a hundred years?
We will probably never know, but there is certainly no reason not to take advantage of the learning – the new and the old – on the Law Of Attraction available to you now.
Bill Simpson at The Conscious Living Foundation has a spectacular collection of e-books written around the turn of the century on the topic of the power to manifest whatever you put your thoughts and your mind to. From Allen to Wattles, these were the movers and shakers of the Law of Attraction in their time.

Below is a sampling of the titles available for download from the Free Inspirational and Motivational E-Books page at The Conscious Living Foundation. You may search down the page and download each title individually for free, as well as discover other gems of wisdom, or save time and purchase the entire collection (there are so many great titles!) in a few Zip files for a small donation. I'll leave you with these words to ponder from the first page of Thought Vibration by William Walker Atkinson, 1906:
"The Law of Attraction in the Thought World"
"THE Universe is governed by Law - one great Law. Its manifestations are multiform, but viewed from the Ultimate there is but one Law. We are familiar with some of its manifestations, but are almost totally ignorant of certain others. Still we are learning a little more every day - the veil is being gradually lifted.

"We speak learnedly of the Law of Gravitation, but ignore that equally wonderful manifestation, THE LAW OF ATTRACTION IN THE THOUGHT WORLD. We are familiar with that wonderful manifestation of Law which draws and holds together the atoms of which matter is composed - we recognize the power of the law that attracts bodies to the earth, that holds the circling worlds in their places, but we close our eyes to the mighty law that draws to us the things we desire or fear, that makes or mars our lives.

"When we come to see that Thought is a force - a manifestation of energy - having a magnet-like power of attraction, we will begin to understand the why and wherefore of many things that have heretofore seemed dark to us. There is no study that will so well repay the student for his time and trouble as the study of the workings of this mighty law of the world of Thought - the Law of Attraction."
